Love in times of Covid19

In the loneliness of the worst pandemic, the world had seen since the last Spanish Flu in the XX century. We had seen that no matter how well prepared we think we are, we would always faced dramatic surprises. The United States has been training since George Bush Jr.’s presidency. However, America was not able to achieve control the disease’s effects promptly. Meanwhile, Australia has been successful in the middle of the chaos surrounding the world. The low number of deaths is impressive compared to other countries in Asia, Europe or America.

Undoubtedly, the discussion towards the vaccine has become full of rage, protests and disagreements between authorities and citizens. I think we will be gd to return to the new normal collaboratively. Will it be possible to construct a less enraged environment where vaccinated and unvaccinated humans share in peace? History has shown how hard it to overcome cultural beliefs is. I understand citizens who suffered health issues or concerns about taking the shot.

The Government must implement strict control about social gatherings between those who received vaccines and those who will not. At this moment, there are still challenges to convince part of the population about how to fears, strong political beliefs about personal agency towards choosing the best alternatives for your health rather than following the recommendations of the Government.

Individualism vs Community safety

I believe this is the chore of discussion between the Government and protesters against a total vaccination of citizens. It is not necessarily that these groups are wrong. Their decisions are motivated by different interests and purposes.

The Government is concerned about keeping a safer space for all groups in society. From primary school students to managers. Furthermore, thinking about the ability of hospitals to manage a high number of people sick with Covid19. Although, it looks like a dictatorial ruling exercising pressure to convince people to get the vaccine. The reality is the main goal is looking to diminish the number of deaths and an overcrowded, non-functional health system.

Meanwhile, patients with complex diseases must have a wider pool of alternatives because they could die due to the cloth in their bloodstream. Undoubtedly, forcing them to take the vaccine to protect them from diseases could be a criminal offence if you think about the right people must have to protect themselves from dying. It would be in some cases a personal decision.

And even when it is harder to understand how taking care of your health could sound ridiculous for others or a selfish attitude. The truth is your mental and physical health is the most valuable element you have to acquire and keep everything else. Without them, you would not be able to take care of yourself, your family, your daily activities, and your relationships. Perhaps, Governments must consider the needs of people having reasonable and logical fears of getting the vaccine against Covid19.

The community should care about the health and risk of those who can face a real and significant risk of dying due to having an adverse response to the jab. On the other hand, it is more difficult to convince people of getting inoculated when they are against the vaccine due to a preference for natural medicine. I believe citizens have the right to protest, but individuals must follow the restrictions and enjoy limited access to public spaces. After all, the choice of not being vaccinated is dangerous for others.

I found multiple companies, community members, and marketing campaigns are trying to reinforce values like kindness, love, compassion and care. The principal purpose is to alleviate the stress from this period of the pandemic, which had caused a change in the life of people around the world with unemployment, sicknesses, educating children at home. Our home can be a comfortable place, but the lack of human interactions can be stressful, well warm and kind human interactions.

How is loving in Covid 19 times?

First, infra-familial violence had increased due to the pandemic. Under circumstances of staying at home longer hours than commute to the office and being able to be in a safe space had increased the vulnerability of women and men in some cases to be at risk of suffering domestic violence. The promotion of values like compassion, kindness and safety should increase. Especially, to improve the mental health of kids, who should spend more time with their parents indoors rather than going to school or enjoying activities in the outdoors.

For romantic love, it had not been either a wonderful period. A lot of people had faced divorce, separation and economic issues. However, other couples had remained stronger in the middle of hardship and challenging circumstances. Undoubtedly, the most complicated part is feeling safe in a period, where everything felt overwhelming, unexpected, riskier, out of control. It is not really that people cannot face these problems. It is more the difficulties to surpass previous inconvenient experiences and handle to manage the repercussions from them while you must face an extraordinary amount of change in your routines and expectations of normalcy.

I think the most important lessons I had learned during this period:

First, you always must check for your safety. If you do not do it, nobody else will necessarily think about it. You only have one mother and one father. Sometimes, you could find a great stepfather or stepmother but beyond that, the majority of people can be dangerous in the wrong circumstances. And Covid19 had been an excellent example of it, for some households. In Australia, the relative imposed self-isolation had offered less complex environments except for Victoria but it is impossible to control the changing weather you experience regularly in that State.

Second, it is always a great time to be healthy. I remembered during Zombieland the main character’s advice towards training Cardio. It sounded funny and tragic but the reality is the healthier you are if you do not have any pre-genetic condition, which makes you more vulnerable to die of pulmonary failure due to the Covid19 virus, your possibilities of surviving are higher. However, you could even find people with excellent healthy lives losing their lives due to this disease. Anyway, good physical health will make you less susceptible to dying from secondary health complications.

Third, you always must request support for your mental health. No matter how educated, strong, successful, powerful, wild, beautiful, intelligent or smart you are. You need mental health support when you face critical experiences like seeing people you love dying. When you lose your job. When your marriage is broken. When your partner leaves you. When you are sick. When you are facing complex and dramatic situations that are severely affecting your regular habits, you must look for help. Just do it. Call for help and assistance. Lifeline 131114.

Fourth, falling in love does not get easier with age. The only thing you learned is to navigate the love currents with more respect for yourself and others. And you are more clear about what you want and expect, rather than tolerating things you were not trained to discern as disrespect in the school or in your house, while you were growing up. Also, you learned that Legislation is very different from country to country. Things that happened to me in the past could have been punished in a different jurisdiction. Also, respect for Law is something that sadly not everyone takes seriously or follow as we should.

Five, dating in the digital age had a decline in quality most of the time. I do not know about you, but I had more fun going to the cinema in my infancy than some dates I had to have in modern times. While I am trying to be straightforward, the question is: are we losing the savoir-faire of life? Some dates felt a little bit mechanical due to using dating apps. This new process means it is harder to find a spark or an emotional connection. I think that is the reason why I could fall in love deeply and harder in unplanned and unexpected encounters rather than I have found through excess of written messages on any dating platform!

Six, your friendships and personal relations require extreme measures to put you in a healthy position when you need police intervention. One of the most relevant things I had learned during this period even when everyone sees things or only express: “It is sad”. It is, sometimes, you must apply extreme measures to feel safe. Mainly when some people create dangerous situations for you without giving a second thought about it. If you are in danger, feeling unsafe or needing a neutral person to mediate, call the police and authorities. Sometimes, we think people will behave like us, but it is not a realistic appreciation of the world. Sometimes, friends and even family could create a dangerous environment.

In case of being in a dangerous situation, call 000.

The unfair price women will keep paying for having professional aspirations

It was shocking and a sad experience reading about how the Australian Government decided to ignore the genocide of women’s brains and skills in the workplace this week. I am not the only one perplexed, worried, and disappointed for women’s mental and physical health in the present and future. But, unfortunately, Australian politicians followed a decision-making process with such a deaf ear to women’s needs after they voted dubiously for less than half of the recommendations to stop workplace sexual harassment in the workplace.

Australian political representatives lost the opportunity to change unfair legal paradigms to offer women the same fair go men have in the workplace. Their decision was against the values promoted by Australian Identity. Something challenging to understand and impossible to accept, especially when you are a woman who had witnessed and being affected by these errors in the legislation.

Scott Morrison‘s Government had affected women’s future safety and well-being in the workplace, perhaps because it is hard to acknowledge and accept mistakes like Brittany Higgins. It is despairing that the Parliament House rape case’ shame made the Federal Government tried to protect itself in this votation. A decision clearly showed a blind desire to deny how ingrained, rooted and shadowy female abuse is considered a habit in Australian society.

When I used the word unfair, I am not the obnoxious old feminist that I often heard people complain of or accuse me of being but a rational citizen who knows that I and the rest of the Australian females living in Australia pay taxes. Consequently, it is devastating that not even being a productive member of society means anything for the Politicians working in the Federal Government, who are paid monthly by the taxes women paid -51.8% of all people employed in 2019 were women-. Is it possible we call this a representative democracy?

I am sure that the people who vote did not represent Australian females’ concern and desire to have the opportunity to work without thinking that she could be a victim of sexual violence.

The Federal Government must approve laws to ban workplace sexual harassment. Also, establish requirements for employers to try to stop sexual harassment in the workplace. Furthermore, protecting victims of sexual harassment against massive legal bills for taking actions against perpetrators and the fair work system to be reviewed to establish that sexual harassment in the workplace is prohibited.

Working towards a goal

Talking about the National Women’s Safety Summit efforts to protect women and children from domestic violence and abuse, it would be important that everyone work together, not separating the workplace from the households.

After all, those breadwinner men are the same who returns home after working 9 to 5. It is interesting how everyone is blind to the habitual thinking that men are the household’s breadwinners. All the construction of masculinity archetypes attached to a man comes from biological, psychological and sociological structures developed through centuries.

Females are not against the positive aspects of this role but the negatives ones. Suppose you consider that the Australian Federal Government had voted to keep supporting sexual harassment in the workplace. In that case, it goes against protecting females living in households raising children when you keep reinforcing the beliefs that abuse of women in the workplace is expected. How will male workers make a psychological divide that there are plenty of opportunities to exercise violence against women in the workplace and then go home and be a caring, protective non-violent partners to his family?

I am convinced that I am not the only one appreciating this irrational way of judgement in Federal politicians after this decision. Consequently, I think Australian politicians, society, and the National Women’s safety summit took this discussion further and promoted a political fight to establish safe spaces and more legal regulations against harassment for women inside and outside their houses.

We should stop promoting this confusing Dr Jekyll, and Mr Hide male portrait that we had been enduring and supporting through centuries. Men also deserve better than that. Besides, women should not only feel safe because they have a ring on their hand and a husband but because they are citizens, who worked, live, take care of children, contribute and pay taxes, too. We belong, and we are part of half of the Australian population. It is irritating to receive unfair treatment from the Australian Government. We are invisible targets in a political system, trying to protect dubiously sexual harassment in the Constitution and legal bodies. At the same time, it plays a democratic facade through discourse and social gatherings.

We need fundamental changes made by the Parliament and in the Law. We need less showbiz and more real representative democratic change.

Epitomising the most authentic spirit of Bvlgari’s vision, visionary and bold, the Action! necklace celebrates 1885’s groundbreaking invention of celluloid roll film, which is evoked through a sinuous and flexible construction that hides a spring mechanism. Producing a soft and supple effect, Action! is covered with diamonds, making this necklace a must-have piece on the red carpet.

Charlize and Seth: an unbelievable right chemistry

The problem is I can believe Charlize could be Seth’s nanny. And that was the best thing behind the romance. It is true, the people who knows you the best is the people who grow up with you because they had seen your real sense of right and wrong before the world could buy you or anybody can modify your perception of right and wrong.

The movie can be naive in that sense but that is what love is supposed to be: the goodness and the kindness in a person beyond all the mascaras, layers, and political purposes a politician or a common citizen could have. If people like this movie is for that reason: Try to rescue old fashioned values, in a world more complex that such a simple concept. For example: how things like social media has corrupted everyone (I cannot spoil the movie for you). Winning any battle but being who you are since the beginning until the end, that is one of the hardest part of living.

Of course, being a beautiful, elegant, chic woman in Politics looks so easy on Madame Theron, who would probably win if she decides to run for Secretary of State in America. Seth Rogen has a good development of his character and his acting is likeable. And I watched more movies from Mr.Rogen than anybody can imagine. The writers of the story had followed some cliches in the Political sphere of their drama like the old billionaire owner of media companies making Rogen and Theron’s lives miserable each time he appeared on scene.

A great comedy with an interesting approach to Politics. Particularly, when the things are not as they looked. It is provocative in the sense of a Journalist, who is quite lost about his personal relationships like ignoring his best friend is a Republican and also a GOP supporter. That is what makes the movie funny, the hidden side of Politics, where sometimes we cannot distinguish what is true behind the curtains of image and Public Relations. At least, the actors in this movie opened their mouth and called the things by their name.

Canva was introduced as a popular client of AWS

Finding one of the CEO from this brand CANVA, which invites everyone to design without having an extensive knowledge of Photoshop, Adobe, Dreamweaver, among others made the highlight during the morning of the second day.

Everyone payed attention to words like “Be ambitious” especially when you work in something so massive as trying to everyone feels like a Designer. The company has grown until arrive to the Chinese and Asian market, where they must locate most of the platform services for cultural reasons.

AWS Summit Sydney 2019

The opening session was very interesting. Listening about being the best in the local market is not as easy as anybody could imagine. Particularly, when there is a market full of highly competitive companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, among other offering Global Solutions for regular issues companies or people have to tackle daily.

Innovation was the word expressed immediately in each conference but also the value of “tradition”. In that sense was interesting to listen CEO from companies like Lion, Amazon and Canva, one of those marvellous pearls from the Pacific, which notoriously didn’t appear in Silicon Valley but it was a start-up located in Sydney.

Undoubtedly, the successful speakers were explaining how the use of the right tools would help them to scale their business faster in an efficient and effective way.

AWS

Part of this exhibition is showing how using the right tools is basic for being successful as business owner and it was the main purpose through the three days the event took place. Each speaker explained how to reinforce topics as control and security in the way process are designed.

Undoubtedly, basic elements for a successful management and a great experience for all the people involved in different areas of business development, tech industries or the start-up scenario.

Deepracer and learning

Through a conference we learn how to reinforce learning while we deeprace. Our algorithm: Vanilla policy gradient considered we have a model which let us train ourselves with positive reinforce each time we do something right.

Well, we are not dogs or cats but it looked like humans experience positive rewards in the same way animals do. We start learning some chore concepts of psychology to understand the purpose of the simulation and the training of our models.

The reinforce strategy is used only during the training and creation of the model not while we are in the race.

RL vs robotic racing

In the first one we collect data observing a driver doing the movements of driving, In the second one we can control the movements in a simulation and extract the data, which will be later explore.

Throughout different measures from the environment the participant can practice with their own virtual model to explore the training before the big race.

AWS Global Summit: Sydney

The event went slowly in its first day. There was information about almost everything from the faster algorithm to find the best alternatives online when you are trying to find the best pair of boots until the right way to approach your customers in an interesting conference.

This was one of the main topics I want to seek since it has been the main characteristic of Amazon’ success. Putting their clients needs first. It was an interesting approach. It was a little bit a practical class to put in view the most important goal for any business: Understand your clients needs because it is a good path to be successful.

There were simple four tips for Working backwards from the Customer. The first question you must ask always are:

  1. Who is the customer?
  2. What is the customer problem or opportunity?
  3. What is the most important customer benefit?
  4. How do you know what customers need or want?
  5. What does the customer experience look like?

After we explore three customer’s problems. The session display was focused in generating ideas after we determined what was the real problem for the customer and believe it or not it was not easy. People often used to offer solutions before understanding what is the clients problem.

Finally, we develop a press release introduction with the most important customer benefit in mind when you elaborate the next three elements in your press release:

PRESS RELEASE

Customer quote: What your customer will express when they try your solution.

Idea Summary: A few sentences to describe what you are offering.

Headline: Short, compelling description.

The dance between Politics, Science and Feminism

It was an interesting Wednesday night when I should find an interesting approach dancing as a way of mourning. Using their bodies to express the pressure of any political system in the human group living under those rules and limits has never been so sincere.

The workings of the choreographer’s mind were used to rebel against a system, which told you Arts is a way of wasting your life. An interesting point of view when usually Artists think about Labour as the irrelevant way of using your time. Julie-Anne Long, a celebrated dance and performance artist gave a good view about her vision of Politics and the desire of accumulation next to her free spirit, which is connected with evocative and delicate ways these perfomers (Bhenji Ra and Ivey Wawn are also part of this project) revealed in a bespoke series of ‘dance lecture’ events.

They combine storytelling with movement and images, this series traces connections between real-life stories, the big topics of our time – climate change, the female body and social co-operation – and dance.

Ivey Wawn combines knowledge from science, politics and popular culture to reveal how the social choreographies we live within might be something we can also reconfigure. Ivey draws on poetics from observations of microbial and economic processes to develop choreographic blueprints for the human scale. Her current research considers how speculative practices, especially those concerning debt, manipulate the relations between past, present and future.

Late Night Library: Talking Bodies is produced by the City of Sydney, presented in collaboration with co-curators Rhiannon Newton and Katy Green Loughrey, in conjunction with Critical Path’s March Dance Festival.

Being someone who feels the same interest of using writing skills to exhibit learning process. I found their exhibition of dance and Politics very interesting. Particularly, when after her lecture, she couldn’t avoid saying “I need to give you something” before dancing. Ironically, she was absolutely immerse in the vision of the market on how all we must to participate in the system. She laughed when I called her attention to the topic. It was something unexpected but she couldn’t deny her need of working all the time.

Perhaps, dancing is her way to break off from the endlessly need of working and producing in the market. This conference will make you search for your own way of shaking off from the limits any system impose on you. Being you is the ultimate goal. That is what I found exciting from Talking bodies by Ivey Wawn.
