The dance between Politics, Science and Feminism

It was an interesting Wednesday night when I should find an interesting approach dancing as a way of mourning. Using their bodies to express the pressure of any political system in the human group living under those rules and limits has never been so sincere.

The workings of the choreographer’s mind were used to rebel against a system, which told you Arts is a way of wasting your life. An interesting point of view when usually Artists think about Labour as the irrelevant way of using your time. Julie-Anne Long, a celebrated dance and performance artist gave a good view about her vision of Politics and the desire of accumulation next to her free spirit, which is connected with evocative and delicate ways these perfomers (Bhenji Ra and Ivey Wawn are also part of this project) revealed in a bespoke series of ‘dance lecture’ events.

They combine storytelling with movement and images, this series traces connections between real-life stories, the big topics of our time – climate change, the female body and social co-operation – and dance.

Ivey Wawn combines knowledge from science, politics and popular culture to reveal how the social choreographies we live within might be something we can also reconfigure. Ivey draws on poetics from observations of microbial and economic processes to develop choreographic blueprints for the human scale. Her current research considers how speculative practices, especially those concerning debt, manipulate the relations between past, present and future.

Late Night Library: Talking Bodies is produced by the City of Sydney, presented in collaboration with co-curators Rhiannon Newton and Katy Green Loughrey, in conjunction with Critical Path’s March Dance Festival.

Being someone who feels the same interest of using writing skills to exhibit learning process. I found their exhibition of dance and Politics very interesting. Particularly, when after her lecture, she couldn’t avoid saying “I need to give you something” before dancing. Ironically, she was absolutely immerse in the vision of the market on how all we must to participate in the system. She laughed when I called her attention to the topic. It was something unexpected but she couldn’t deny her need of working all the time.

Perhaps, dancing is her way to break off from the endlessly need of working and producing in the market. This conference will make you search for your own way of shaking off from the limits any system impose on you. Being you is the ultimate goal. That is what I found exciting from Talking bodies by Ivey Wawn.

Sydney: What is behind horses, betting and screening images on Historic Buildings?

It is simple. The first time I visited Sydney I did because I wanted to see the fireworks in front of the Sydney Opera House. It was really interesting and beautiful. Then I drink a beverage watching the sails and it felt completely dreamy. Some people would not understand the reason behind the protest against Alan Jones’ fiery statements in an interview against Louis Heron, Chief Executive of the Sydney Opera House. He called for sacking her from her job after she was not supportive to promote the Everest horse racing on this building.

Everybody has paid attention to this fight. Especially, when Horse racing is also a big tradition in Australian Culture. In that sense, it is understandable that Scott Morrison, Prime Minister of Australia, found like a complete non-sense this discussion.

However, numbers contradict this situation when you can find the number of people who had lost almost everything provoked by gambling addiction. Perhaps, in that sense showing a message to promote this event without any intention to promote gambling but, the both topics are very attached and well-known as a problem, which multiple Australian families face daily, and that is the real deal.

I remembered I met Adam* and we were in his car at the beginning of the year a few meters, where the protest took place yesterday. And I remembered how he gave me details of how he must ending his relationship after he discovered her girlfriend had stolen money from his bank account to gamble. Perhaps, for politicians the link between both topics can look completely out of common sense but I believed it is in part the real deal behind it.

In 2008 Gambling Solutions created a survey. In this document with 200 young participants from 13  to 24 years old found this:

    • 96% of people from 18-24 had gambled for money or possessions.

    • 62 % of those under 14 years old and 77 % of those aged up to 17 had gambled for money or items, including mobile phones and MP3 players.

    • 25.5% of 14-17 year olds and 55 % of 18-24 year olds had lost more than they had intended,

  • and 6% under 18 had played a poker machine

Other aspect is how Australian citizens felt about Private sphere, in this case, Everest brand’s owners taking the public space to promote a ‘famous’ but still private event. And the attitude from Mr. Jones what really made Sydneysider felt outrageously angry. It was a sum of subtle issues like addiction, which is affecting the local community plus a bad-tempered comments from Alan Jones, radio personality, during an interview.

Finally, the common sense won and they had decided to take a different path. Perhaps, they would win more support if they chose to promote a plan to help people who is struggling with gambling issues. Perhaps, that part of this issue should have more attention. It would be an interesting turn in this clash about Culture, business, horse tradition, advertisement, economy and high-profile events in Australia.

What remains from Vivid Sydney: From innocence, lights, paintings, Science and seduction.

#VividSydney was here. A festival of lights, ideas, Science, Arts and more. I found Snugglepot and Cuddlepie short-film showed as a film on one of my favourite buildings in Sydney. The characters created by Australian author May Gibbs was amazing. The story is simple but the music and the feature would you feel glad, peaceful, discovering more about the symbols behind the Australian culture, where Eucalyptus trees are found in the bush all the time letting koalas enjoy long naps under burgeoning rays of light in the middle of any day during December and January. These common  places inspired the Australian artist to create this world, where the innocence is the main element of their journey. In some sort of way inspired and fueled the natural desire in Saxon countries for going to explore the world and find new adventures to live.

In my humble experience, the walking around the city works as an interesting and reflexive momentum to think of it as a short trip from the innocence of  Snugglepot and Cuddlepie’ story until a surprising second visit to the Charles Billich’s gallery located in The Rocks, where all the vices from adulthood are present. Money, Fame, Diamonds, Sex, Hedonism, Seduction, Bets and Sensuality had been exposed and explored in the majority of his paintings. He is a painter of excesses but he can organise them so well with a Modern version of Surrealism and Cubism that they looked just marvelous, attractive, desirable, and inviting… My favourite are the Russian Ballet Dancer paintings, he definitely loves that woman. As well as the horses running for the first place with their jockeys.

The first time I was in his gallery was in 2015, and what called my attention this time was his story as refugee in Australia. Definitely, a place you must visit during any #VividSydney  It was a great experience, and against some voters in this beautiful place I wouldn’t think it is a good idea moving the Festival around Australia, it belongs to Sydney, even with a crazy traffic, waves of people crossing across the CBD using a comple Labyrinth, meanwhile restaurants and bars are full with visitors, Sydneysiders, writers, photographers, parents running behind their children, loners, couples, single parents, backpackers, students, tourists, the truth is this event belongs to Sydney.

If you don’t want to walk out during the night, you should plan ahead a survival guide list for the things to do to avoid all the issues related to #VividSydney. Perhaps, I can help you with one but I enjoyed those nights. I do really find fascinating the projection of different microorganisms, virus, bacteria, and some fungus in The Rocks Wall. I enjoyed part of the Biennale in the Museum of Contemporary Art. It was hard, painful, real, familiar and intense the exploration of the conflict between Capitalism and Comunism in the last Century through the experience and words from a retired officer and how anybody can be part of a massacre caused by a bigger power, which gave us that reality as the only alternative. Probably the crucial example of losing your innocence in a modern world.

In my personal opinion is part of Sydney’s identity like the White Night belongs to Melbourne .I was just waiting for watching the sweetest images of three children running from their small town to the big city as something nice, entertaining for children and in some sort of way a sense of reminiscence for adults about their own adventures when they were younger. From this point, I walked towards the  create my own emojis on Samsung  exhibition following an interesting show of candies and high-speed cars . The last one was probably the most popular area for teenagers attracted by the modern beats produced in the Dj’s console, as well as, taking pictures and recording videos with their phones of the colourful and vivid videos reflected on the Sydney Opera House. Finally, it was a Festival, which let us go back again to remember and celebrate how Lumiere Brother’s discovery of how using light and shadow in a special way during the darkness could let us dream and create visual stories or concepts. Before them was the discovery of fire, which protect us but we are not in a History class, this is just a Op ed about why #VividSydney belongs to Sydney.

The opposite of uninterested: ANZAC DAY

It is not Politics, it is not War, it is not Intelligence, it is just a day to remind people who lost their lives under the pressure and risks of War. The first time I heard of it, I was a child and I listened how my great-grandmother lost contact with her family in the other side of the Atlantic after her neighbourhood, in Piccadilly, was bombed. I had never shared this kind of information with my friends because culturally speaking it appeared as something they would not recognise as part of our local upbringing while you were living in South America.

In that sense, this kind of Day to remember was not a relevant topic but it used to appear briefly on media. I had been living more than 24 months in Australia, and before taking the time to follow one of the events I would understand deeply my surroundings, I just don’t want to be a lonely tourist taking pictures to show where I was, what I saw, what I listened, what I witnessed… I do really want to experience with a sense of belonging rather than the outsider perspective I would felt when I arrived and I couldn’t even managed properly my time to find a place to live between classes and readings.

Even when I read multiple times about Wars and also be part of multiple Military events while I was studying or working, or celebrating the commemoration of Wars of Independence, the truth it is this experience would be different in many ways. Perhaps, the location, the language and growing up in a family, where some members were passionate readers of International conflicts during the Cold War and Wars books gave me a sense of excitement a little bit elevated.

It was definitely an interesting approach to write about it. Particularly, when I wait so long for it. The bands were ready, the retired soldiers, sergeants, captains, lieutenants, all of them were ready waiting for the time to salute the crowd, to walk in memory of the people, who is no longer here because becoming part of the Army, Navy or another militar service finish their lives earlier. In that sense, it was a high sensitive experience, people who couldn’t have the happiness of celebrate a Victory, or at least survived it. In some sort of way they gave the most precious thing everything had, their lives to let others enjoyed it. I don’t believe it is wrong to remember them. Even in the most ancient cultures, there was always a person who wrote down the number of lives lost during the conflict. Some people would think about it as a sick, obsessed disorder but how you outgrown the hardest times, if you don’t share with others how, and whom conquered to let you live in the present.

Heritage and Culture as one of the key elements to inspire creation

By Rossana Naveda

When I started this blog I found an explicit critical response towards stealing codes of Culture. However, my defence couldn’t come in more strength form by reminding how my house used to be filled with English Speaking golden pieces of Literature, from Dickens, one of the ancients; without forgetting Sir Conan Doyle‘s most famous characters like Sherlock Holmes and Dr.Watson; Dumas, two French writers, who possessed an interest vision about relationships in the romantic and fraternal scenario; The King Arthur next to Guinevere,  and the mythology from the England lands. The modernity throughout Margaret Mitchell, Ernest Hemingway, John Grisham, Jules Verne, even how the Lambs were an important element in the Australian culture throughout the descriptions narrated by the writer Colleen McCullogh in her book The Thorn Birds. At the same time, Masters of Literature in Spanish as Don Quijote written by Miguel Cervantes Saavedra, Alfredo Pareja Diezcanseco and Gabriel Garcia Marquez (Love in Cholera Time) were there close to my fingertips each afternoon.

I cannot deny I grew up listening about the mother and aunts of my grandmother speaking in English in her hometown in a small town in the North of the Andean Mountains so, I had never felt this side of my backgrounds far from my identity as neither I found my mother’s ancestry located in the Coast of America (the Continent) far from my identity, which is mainly structured under the definition of syncretism between Spanish culture and local ancient groups. I love growing up in the middle of these different worlds and in multiple ways the richness from both sides let me have a more creative way of thinking in different areas of my life, and in some sort of Slytherin’ strategy let me survive in the things I love the most like my loved grandmother and family, as well as, their traditions.

The decision of exploring this topic is the usual critical perception of one predominantly Culture over another. However, even the most ancient Cultures formed throughout the conquering one tribe or group against their will had a resemblance of how societies become stronger using syncretism as a secret to transform themselves through time. Sometimes, for stronger prejudices we find hardships to remind this kind of concepts and we try to forget the purpose of support different ways of thinking. Under these circumstances, social groups used to focus their attention in hating how the others choose to work or plan. Instead of learning from both sides. It is common to find scenarios like this in different Political, where the Politicians used Culture and Heritage like arms to win votes avoiding expose better arguments to determine a realistic measures about good or bad decisions during their Political terms.

The problem is people believe in them without contrasting facts and seeing over the Campaigns strategies their smart teams creators supported. In some cases, having lack of interest in Politics caused this kind of Speech or propaganda disseminate negative messages against particular groups, creating chaos, increasing the number of hate crimes, diminishing internal security, among other effects as discriminative behaviour against minorities, which probably had previously faced enough troubles to have a safe and healthy life. Although it is comprehensible that Government took measures to protect themselves from external threats in any level they could, it is also relevant to create a fair and trustworthy system to plan and get ahead with the proper decisions to protect the life and well-being of their citizens without recurring to racial persecution or discrimination.

For safety reasons

Under particular circumstances, it is reasonable to choose alternatives to increase the security as banning some groups for a determine period of time, but promote alienation for particular groups and communities, it is not only a remarkable ignorant behaviour, it will only diminish the Internal security of citizens, who could start to believe they would have the safety they need by harassing, hitting, discriminating, ignoring or insulting people, who looked different physically, culturally or mentally. And it is a reality, which affected communities in different Continents, not only in Australia, US, Europe or South America.

Under these circumstances, it is difficult to ignore the value of Leaders inside communities or in positions of Power, in big or small-scale, whom promote a secure environment for local residents and visitors, who would spend long time or short time in the place. Walking down any street shouldn’t feel like a terrifying experience for anybody and in that sense, it is responsibility of everyone to share, recognise differences and even, if they are not celebrated, tolerance and respect are relevant elements to keep a community living in a safe environment.

For economic reasons

When people feel fear of being themselves or sharing who they are, it is more common their abilities, talents or skills got wasted in activities, which wouldn’t necessarily exposed their better attributes as workers.

Feeling fear, also, could provoke anxiety, stress and nervousness. These are not the characteristics any employer want in their collaborators because it will diminish the productivity from the people under any manager’s control. Feeling accepted, respected and supported by any community works not only for individuals but for all the people involved in the creation, manufacture or development of products, projects, ideas, brands, apps or any business you can figure out with your imagination.

Sharing values from different groups and support the creation inspired by their different Cultural backgrounds wouldn’t only provide the opportunity to support diversity and follow what a variety of countries’ Legislation tend to advertise under the rules of the free market, advertise because it is not truth, big corporations tend to use their power to attack good ideas, only because they were not the first ones to develop them. Also innovation could offer new visions, under a wide number of participants from different backgrounds, about how to tackle difficult and harsh social issues, which had affected our communities even before the Industrial era.

Lost Vegas: A city full of harsh contrasts!!

That was the vision captured by Tim Levy in her last exhibition in the Black Eye Gallery. I found a small place to open my mind and see the world through this photographer’s eyes, which were focused in something I called social irony, and Vegas has a lot of places to find it. However, Tim should invest a precious gift we all have, time to find the precise images, the right people, the perfect illumination, the satirical view, in other words, to let us consider the value of timing.

He must travel to Las Vegas three times for getting the complete collection named Lost Vegas. As part of his personal experience he mentioned that in the second one he got sick by food poisoned; during his first trip he didn’t find so much to work with; however, the muse appeared on time to let him collect through the camera’s lens the sides of luck.

las-vegas-nevada-cities-urban-161772.jpegIn 2007, 39.2 million visitors spent their money in Las Vegas, Nevada (US). Usually, this number of people is going to visit this city each year to get married, to spend money in the city’s casinos, to dream big, to enjoy the luxury and extravaganza in every possible way. It is the city to forget responsibilities and becoming a Wild One, no rules, no regrets and everything happened there, stayed there.

However, an open invitation to feed all kind of appetites wouldn’t let out the risk of violence, blood, danger, sex, drugs, in a few words… what the majority of Quentin Tarantino‘s fans love in his movies. It is on the list of dangerous cities with 43.4 violent crimes per 10,000 residents, which made it occupy the 21st place on the list created by the Business Insider. It is easy to understand why they located the most famous lab team for solving crime in America in this city.

It is an interesting exhibition, I couldn’t lie each image would provoke a strong impression on the visitor. Undoubtedly, my favourite one was the Apricot Sunset, the desert with a sunset’s beautiful illumination gave you a chance to breathe in the middle of all excesses. Another magnificent image is The Gambler, this work won as an image of Head On Landscape Prize and a finalist image for Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award.

If you want to enjoy the real spirit of Las Vegas and all the contrast you could see inside their community, this is a great opportunity to see beyond the bright lights, the spectacle, the amusing entertainment, for enjoying the other side of the coin, the one which didn’t get enough luck.

So you will find the people arriving to have a wedding; the brides looking quite concerned about her future with a gambler in front of the tables; the shooters, the pride Americans, the homeless citizens, the illegal immigrants working as advertisers of sex work, probably, something they would have never done in their own countries; the sex workers with fabulous bodies and lines giving her back to the lens and her face to her client, the strippers, the game, the gamblers, the sexual element, the guns, the classic American design and the wild spirit in the middle of the desert. You are welcome more than welcome to enjoy the illusion of spending money on all kinds of pleasure and also, watch how others live in complete misery in a city publicized as a Paradise for losing control.

I don’t believe Tim tried to give any lecture about Economics and poverty but he used his camera with a great dose of wisdom to show, probably, the same surprise we found in the contrast of this city explored in each image, because people living on the streets is something you can find anywhere, even in the Sydney CBD so, what calls the attention of the viewer  in this exhibition is the dramatic truth beyond an over-advertised and tempting surface.

Golden Globes, Nicole Kidman,Oprah Winfrey and the other side of the French feminists

I remembered my first taste of Australian culture did not come with Locomotion… I discovered later that Kylie Minogue was Australian and I danced and sang more lines with her hit “I can’t get you off my head, boy your love it is all I think about”. I hope her next Album Golden would be so amazing as her previous productions. My cat Martin loves her voice in Slow and I know because he started to purr and lying with his belly exposed like she does in her video.  However, my first experience of seeing what was supposed to be the life Down Under was watching Paradise Beach.Of course, when I was fifteen I had never imagined I would spend more than two years in a country, where I fight for my ideas harder than I’ve ever done.

Under these circumstances, the Golden Globe gala was amazing with all the Artists involved in the request of finding a best practice in public and private sphere, which diminish the presence of abuse. Particularly, after Harvey Weinstein‘s case. Nicole Kidman was extremely glad of getting her prize as best actress for the role of a mother victim of violence at home in the film Big little lies. She used her time for being grateful of having a mother who defended the Feminist movement when she was a children.

“Sunny, Faith, I’m bringing this home to you, babies,” she began, referencing her and Keith Urban’s two young daughters. She went on to gush over co-stars Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zoe Kravitz, saying they “pledged allegiance to each other. Wow, the power of women.”

In the other side of the Atlantic
I found that some feminist and intellectuals in France consider the idea of attacking sexual harassment as a step back in the freedom of women sexuality because what media, artists, creators, and citizens are doing is putting women in a position similar to any children. I found it quite ridiculous we are talking about how someone uses his power, money or relations to threat a career or an employee, or making her life complicated after rejection, that is the real difference or being in a situation where saying ‘no’ is not perceived as something anybody would like to have the opportunity to do without feel fe a punishment for it. There is the big problem with harassment.

Of course, having sexual desire is part of every person in the planet. At least, you are asexual so, having desire and express it too but when someone can coerce a woman because they are in a position of authority achieved through job, money, religion, status, will or power, we are facing a clear example of abuse. It is not about Victorian values, it is about respect and having the option of choosing with whom you will share your body without any kind of unexpected action, manipulation, dubious action (like to attack the personal values of someone in the public sphere for fun or to destroy his or her character in the public opinion), threat or menace. When you read this you can see the difference between gallantry and sexual harassment.

We shouldn’t try to say sexual desire could be compared with sexual harassment. Everybody feels desire, how do you manage your actions to get closer to a woman or men you are into would provide a very clear important differences. Particularly, when you are working with the person and you are his manager, boss, vice-President, Director or CEO.

Sometimes women and men could believe that we need our power back or saying we are going backwards, which is impossible. Women had just start winning in their battle for equality since they were recognised as voters and that just happened in the XIX century so, what we had seen in the last 130 years is how that battle advanced. We hadn’t got so much legal power before in the regular basis. At least, the woman was a noble or a Queen. Creating spaces to discuss topics like harassment couldn’t or shouldn’t get interpreted as a lost but an opportunity to find new ways to stop it.

Oprah Winfrey

oprah-winfrey-receives-golden-globe-awardOne of the most interesting actions was the clear dream of Oprah Winfrey. Nobody doubts she will be running for President of the United States in 2020. Perhaps, being winner of a prize like Cecil B. DeMille for her unstoppable and successful career on media and communications, as well as, actress, producer, among other roles made the moment unforgivable. Long time ago she confessed being victim of child sexual abuse so, her voice hadn’t got only the force of a professional but a survivor.

These are extracts from her speech “I want to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. We know the press is under siege these days. We also know it’s the insatiable dedication to uncovering the absolute truth that keeps us from turning a blind eye to corruption and to injustice.”

“…So I want tonight to express gratitude to all the women who have endured years of abuse and assault because they, like my mother, had children to feed and bills to pay and dreams to pursue…”

“…They’re the women whose names we’ll never know. They are domestic workers and farm workers. They are working in factories and they work in restaurants and they’re in academia, engineering, medicine and science. They’re part of the world of tech and politics and business. They’re our athletes in the Olympics and they’re our soldiers in the military.”

Even David Letterman had acknowledged the special and transcendental life she has experienced, she has always being a humble woman. Undoubtedly, what I read from Oprah, as well as, Nicole’s youth in Australia let me discover to avoid listening harsh comments about not fitting inside the Australian beauty standards, where you should have a perfect tan, sexy body and, and beach blonde hair. Nicole talked long time ago to a magazine about how she couldn’t reach that level as a teenager as some of her friends  did it because her white skin, curly red hair and freckles weren’t part of what was considered as the best Australian Aesthetics. I love it, if someone with Nicole Kidman’s genes couldn’t reach it and Oprah can overcome so harsh experiences and be happy, there should be a way to find  the same path

Their speeches were brilliant that night.

Sexual crimes in the Church: A philosophical change

In the last twenty years finding sexual crimes against minors inside Catholic church has been one of the most common scandals followed my media. From United States, Ireland, South America, Australia, among other countries there are multiple cases where the Catholic Church had faced great damage to its institution, as well as, the most important part in any organisation: Their members because no institution from the public or private sphere could create a meaningful work or service without the people involved in the movement.  In Australia, following the information from media where the numbers expressed that nearly 2,000 Catholic Church figures, including priests, religious brothers and sisters, and employees, were identified as alleged perpetrators in a report released by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse this year.

What called my attention is this has been happening not only in different countries, you can find similar situations like in Dominican Republic 2014, where Josef Wesolowski, died before he was able to go to trial for being guilty of sexual abuse of minors and possession of child pornography, The Netherlands, Ireland, The United States,  among  other countries. You could even find the same issues in the time of the greatest division of England from the Catholic Church, even when the main topic under the reign of Henry VIII was controlling his territory in all possible sense. The truth is Thomas Cromwell  found similar cases of men in the Church behaving in not so Saint or Christian ways, like having nuns getting pregnant, sexual abuse of minors and sodomy.

In the book A new life of England’s tragic Queen Anne Boleyn  by Joanna Denny there is an extract of Cromwell’s report Valor Eclesiasticus, which reported an enquiry of abuses in monasteries and convents during that period “Monks and nuns confessed to immoral acts, including incest, homosexuality and sex abuse…”.

“Of chastity they monks and nuns make outward shew but very little was fownd amonge them, for it plainlie appered their filthie lusts were not satisfied with maidens wifes and widows but they also practised one with another…”

I grow up attending Catholic schools because the system of teaching was considered the best, as well as, the quality of education. I still recall some drastic ways of teaching from some professors but I truly believe that it is time for societies to ask for a change in the philosophy behind the Church. Perhaps, men and women do really should have the right to raise a family even when they belong to Jesus. I am not saying I had all the knowledge on Earth but when you find the same situation repeated after more than five hundred centuries, something must radically change. If it is not possible  that the people inside the Church stop feeling guilty over the sexual desire they could face, which biologically speaking is normal, during their lifetime; they should have some external support in the psychological sphere to face that perhaps, they couldn’t belong to a life of celibacy and leave the institution, rather than using minors to satisfy their sexual appetite; or the Church should consider  let their priests and sisters have a normal life with a family while they take care of God’s sheeps at the same time.

How many more centuries should we wait to see the Church face the problem and solve it in a radical way? It is necessary we keep seeing more cases in media each decade in a different country to understand that something is wrong in the belief system and not only in the Institution. Also, we need to see more victims to understand silence had not been working during the last centuries because erasing the truth as Queen Mary did to protect the Catholic Church during her period as Queen in England, only provoked the same situation more and more cases appearing later. To end an event, which replied itself in different cultures and countries we must to understand is a problem inside the structure of thinking. Perhaps, even when the Pope and different members couldn’t understand the idea of changing in a radical way the Philosophy of their doctrine, they shouldn’t have to hide anymore than some situations happened once and again under that structure of thinking about sin, sex, celibacy, homosexuality and living a regular life as women and men with a family. If the Church is not interesting to increase the discussion to solve these issues, perhaps, the members should request actively to find a solution because not only girls face the risk of being sexually molested and it is relevant to protect boys too, from this kind of crime.

The pressure over gender and sexuality is so relevant in all the spheres of societies, that we cannot let this out of discussion. The original purpose of our material is supporting female in societies, where abuse and dead are part of regular risks for women, and all the time we conclude that no parent raise their daughter for ending with a partner, who will kill her. However, men don’t deserve being sexually molested neither manipulated by an adult in any instance, case or situation and as society we must protect them too.

The Royal Commission has stipulated multiple recommendations and measures to diminish the number of situations in Australia. However, as we had seen before institutions tend to protect themselves from different claims so in that case only members can and should promote a real change for their institutions working inside. Undoubtedly, the external measures increased awareness over the risk and how to handle the problem but why should we consider having that kind of risk in a Church is part of something unchangeable? Why couldn’t we consider a different way of living for the priests and nuns, where they can handle their mortal bodies with more respect and dignity for them and others? Those are the questions for Catholic Church leaders, community and members to solve.

Buddha, Meghan Markle, and becoming part of an Artistic creation

Everybody who has developed a profound understanding of my perception of life knows my attraction for thinking in the best ballad for any possible moment, circumstance, experience, drama, holiday, person…yes, even when it could be extremely bizarre each person in my life has or had been attached to a song in my mind. No matter how hard I had tried to end this kind of silly or immature activity to some. For me, there is no way to control it so, when I found Buddha exhibition organised by the NGV team…in my case all the songs created for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Magical Tour… I know for Indian citizens or people who possessed heritage from India this could sound pretty ridiculous but the first time I listened, as a child, about India was watching a documentary from The Beatles at 8 or 9 years old.

Eternity Buddah in Nirvana by Xu Zhen

Weighing approximately 15 tonnes, Xu Zhen’s 18m long sculpture features a 16m replica of a famous reclining Buddha statue adorned with 3D scanned and cast Greco-Roman, Renaissance and Neoclassical sculptures, fusing together Eastern and Western cultural heritages in order to break down boundaries.

Watching the work of multiple employees from the Gallery is an interesting view of this representative figure of finding the enlightenment through a peaceful approach and considering the self rather than having or searching for more knowledge, richness, or money. However, he was someone who had all these elements in the first place so, usually that is the kind of experience, which let you try to explore a different alternative. When you are growing in a different side of the Economy, it is possible that you will try to survive since your first years. Under this kind of perception we can analyse his life under a less spiritual vision and we would be able to understand  his approach comes from someone who hadn’t enough appreciation for what he has because he got it all in the physical needs but he needs to discover the pain of attachment and how to face pain without letting the experience stop your generosity and compassion with others, who also suffered.

He was searching a truth about the world because he lived in a very controlled environment with all the things he needs. In that context, what could a Prince, like Harry search in Meaghan. He expressed her impact on him since the first encounter, and  also there was an interesting story behind this detail. For getting his answer of finding a wife, he followed a similar path. In his life, there was an important affective lost at a young age, which as himself confessed he should search for emotional support after he felt himself “on the verge of punching someone”.

Furthermore, Prince Harry consider the pressure of media in his life as something difficult to handle at some point. Under these circumstances, it was easy to understand why the couple, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry choose to have an indoor relationship. Perhaps, the relationship grew better during six months without all the topics related to overexposed framing of the couple in different tabloids and websites. In both cases, for Buddha and Harry, a big change happened from the inside/out having experiences out of their regular Royal environments. For Buddha, it represents a change of his regular understanding of being someone from a Royal family and for Harry, leaving behind his experience as a Royal and sharing more who he is without all the comments, gossip and false stories about his media perception, perhaps, it gave him an opportunity to open himself in a sum of more sincere encounters because there was no more pain to hide or fear.

If you want to see a monumental 16 m long Buddha, you must go to the National Gallery of Victoria, which is currently installing one of its largest works. The work has been especially commissioned for the blockbuster summer exhibition, the inaugural NGV Triennial, a free exhibition, taking over the entire gallery and featuring the world’s best art and design.

The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food

My first time enjoying a few days in this place has been a lovely and critical experience. However, we will focus our attention in the positive.

The best

Undoubtedly, the location is perfect, you could find the trendy stores around Sydney so if you are in holidays and you want to spend your last hours in the city the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food festival is an iconic event in October. I love the multiple options I found from the classic Asian noodles to delicate desserts prepared following the rules of French Cuisine. My favourite was the crackling pork belly with fried chicken and beef in one of the spaces reserved by Mr. Bao. Of course, you could find the best alternative in the Japanese ice cream, I missed the lack of chocolate in the options offered by Messina, however, strawberry and coffee would make you feel amused by them.

If I need to create a list for all the delicious dishes you would find in this small to medium size food festival, I would not have enough space on my website. The truth about food is listen one to five recommendations, then go and discover yourself if the food and the place is what you expect of a Food Festival. In my case, I enjoyed what I found.

The bad

Well, I need to be honest chill out with your family and friends while you are enjoying great music, marvelous ingredients, extreme creativity from different cook’s teams is amusing and amazing. However, I missed more activities to learn how to make things great each time you want to surprise your friends or create original recipes or at least, experiment in your own kitchen without die trying. A little experience like Phillips‘ promotion of devices to create your own noodles at home.

I truly believe the experience would have more fun, intensity, creativity and profit. At the end, we are not going to lie to nobody. Everybody involved in the festival wants to promote their products and increase their own number of sales.

The unforgettable

The singers and different artists playing instruments and/or using their voices was one of the best aspects during this evenings. In some sort of way, they are the ones who brought the enchanting aspect of listening beautiful songs written by them or from other music writers, who made a simple night the time of your life. You shouldn’t miss the last days of the The Sydney Morning Herald this week.  If you want more information. Visit good food month.
